What is mobile phone radiation?
The more technical term for mobile phone radiation is electromagnetic field radiation or EMF radiation. EMF radiation encompasses a very large spectrum of frequencies. Cell phones emit multiple EMF frequencies, both to function as an electrical device and to transmit and receive signals from cellular towers. Mobile phones typically operate at frequencies between 450 and 2700 MHz with peak powers in the range of 0.1 to 2 watts.
Is EMF Dangerous?
There have been numerous studies pointing to the dangers of excessive EMF exposure. Perhaps the most compelling is a report published in 2012 by the BioInitiative Working Group, an independent organisation comprised of 29 scientists from over 10 different countries. The report concluded that:
“Bioeffects are clearly established and occur at very low levels of exposure to electromagnetic fields and radiofrequency radiation. Bioeffects can occur in the first few minutes at levels associated with a cell and cordless phone use. Bioeffects can also occur from just minutes of exposure to mobile phone masts (cell towers), WI-FI, and wireless utility ‘smart’ meters that produce whole-body exposure. Chronic base station level exposures can result in illness.”
“Many of these bioeffects can reasonably be presumed to result in adverse health effects if the exposures are prolonged or chronic. This is because they interfere with normal body processes (disrupt homoeostasis), prevent the body from healing damaged DNA, produce immune system imbalances, metabolic disruption and lower resilience to disease across multiple pathways. Essential body processes can eventually be disabled by incessant external stresses (from system-wide electrophysiological interference) and lead to pervasive impairment of metabolic and reproductive functions. “
What can I do to protect myself from EMF radiation?
Since EMF exposure is cumulative, limiting your exposure as much as possible is advised. One of the best things you can do is to not keep your cell phone near your body and to use the speaker function when talking to someone. If you can’t use the speaker then holding your cell phone even a couple inches from your ear can lower EMF by more than half. Also, avoid using your cell phone in poor reception areas since your phone will emit stronger signals in order to maintain a proper connection to cell phone towers.
What are some of the symptoms of EMF exposure?
While some people seem to show little effect from chronic EMF exposure, others can have very dramatic effects, even to fairly low-level exposure. Below is a list of few of the reported symptoms of EMF exposure.
• Stress, fatigue, and sleeplessness.
• Rashes, burning sensations on the skin, and facial prickling.
• Body pains and muscle ache.
• Burning sensations in the eyes.
• Hazy depression and thinking.
• Digestive disorders.
Are there products that can help protect me from EMF radiation?
While there are some products, such as pendants and stickers, that supposedly “harmonise” EMF, there is zero scientific evidence to back this up. No. The anti-radiation membrane is only applied to the front cover. This design protects your head from EMF radiation but leaves the back portion to receive cell phone signals as designed.
Does your anti-radiation case provide EMF protection when it’s in my pocket?
Yes, the same EMF protection applies when the phone is in your pocket. To ensure that you receive this protection, always be sure to have the front cover, where the anti-radiation material is applied, facing your body. Your phone is constantly emitting EMF in order to maintain a signal with cell phone towers and the RadiArmor case will lower your exposure by 91%. However, whenever possible, consider turning off your phone or putting it in aeroplane mode when you know you don’t need it for the best EMF protection.
Why do you only make wallet style iPhone cases?
The best way to block EMF is to put the EMF blocking material between you and the source. Many companies who claim near 100% EMF protection are, in fact, referring to the EMF blocking material, not the actual protection that you receive. Even worse, many companies put their EMF blocking material on the back of the phone. This increases the user’s actual EMF exposure.
Does the entire screen of your anti-radiation screen protector block EMF radiation?
No, only the opaque bezel (black or white borders depending on which color you choose) are lined with our ultra-thin anti-radiation material.
If only the bezel or borders have EMF blocking material, how can it provide 70% protection?
EMF follows the inverse square law and drops rapidly with distance. For example, holding your phone just one inch away from your ear will reduce your exposure to less than 1/4th. This inverse square law is also the reason why you can get 70% EMF reduction even though less than 70% of your phone is covered with anti-radiation material. The EMF exposure that you get from say the bottom of your phone is far less than the exposure you get from the part that is closest to your ear, where our material is applied.
Does your screen protector block blue light?
Some people like to block light in the blue spectrum as studies have shown that this spectrum can disrupt sleep cycles. Some companies are selling screen protectors that block blue light, but this is completely unnecessary since iPhone has a feature called ‘Night Shift’ that automatically removes blue spectrum from your display. To access this feature go to Settings>Display & Brightness>Night Shift.
I’ve seen stickers and pendants that supposedly neutralize EMF, why don’t you make that?
These products have become very popular. They claim that wearing a pendant or putting a tiny sticker on your phone will harmonize or neutralize EMF. They are all over Amazon. However, none of these products are substantiated by any studies or even science for that matter. Some even cite awards from made-up organization. If you read the reviews, they tell you that the only way to test their product is by doing a “muscle test.” If you are not familiar with muscle testing, this is when somebody holds an item close to their body and puts their arm out and has someone push down on their arm. If the item “resonates” with you in a positive way, then your resistance is strong. Unfortunately, the muscle test is nothing more than a placebo test. Here’s why: time and time again, the muscle test gives counter results when both the participant and the tester do not know what item is being held. The power of suggestion is extremely powerful. It’s why drug companies always do double blind placebos when testing for new drugs. We’ve tested some of these products and they are often nothing more than plastic, but people are convinced that they’re being protected and feel better using it. Unfortunately, while unscrupulous companies are profiting from fake EMF products, the mounting research about the dangers of EMF are most certainly not fake. How can I test that my case is really blocking EMF?
There are many fake EMF protection products on the market today so we always encourage our customers to test our cases for themselves. There are couple ways to do this. The most accurate way is to get a power density meter that can measure high frequency RF (Radio Frequency) EMF and MW (Microwave radiation). A typical gauss or tesla meter, which is great for low frequency EMF from sources like power lines, will typically not measure the more dangerous higher frequency EMF that your phone emits. (If you happen to have the commonly used TriField Meter, then you’ll want to make sure that you have it on Electric or Radio/Microwave setting). Once you get a density meter that measures high frequency RF and Microwave EMF, make sure that you place a call and compare the difference with the front cover open versus closed. Remember, only the front cover has the anti-EMF lining. Also, your phone emits the most EMF just before a call is connected, so you’ll want to test it under similar conditions each time. Although less accurate, you can also test our cases by putting a card with an RF chip in the front cover. (It won’t work.) If you have any questions on testing your case, please reach out to us.
